About Soul Quest

Soul Quest is a week-long summer camp hosted on York College’s campus in York, Nebraska. Soul Quest provides a space for middle school and high school-aged kids to come together and praise God and learn more about His presence through worship times, exciting classes and activities, and awesome friendships.

Cost

Campers: $200.00 ($190 through June 1st)
The “Early Bird Rate” of $190.00 is available for all registration fee payments that are postmarked by June 1st. Money can be sent by mail to:

York College
attn:Soul Quest
1125 E 8TH ST
YORK, NE 68467

Extra Money:
Room Key: $20 deposit
Due at registration, do not include this money with registration. The money will be returned to the camper when the room key is returned at the end of camp. If the key is lost, the camper forfeits the deposit.

Canteen: $25 avg
SQ provides opportunities every day for campers to purchase snack foods and drinks (at reduced prices). They also have the ability to order a large single-topping pizza for $12 from Pizza Hut to be delivered during evening canteen hours.

York College Bookstore:
The bookstore has an amazing selection of YC gear and souvenirs.

Camp Guidelines

  1. Respect York College property.  All campers are responsible for damages to dorm rooms or other YC property, due to careless behavior and will be expected to pay for it. Campers are expected to keep rooms clean and trash free. Campers will be expected to sign a liability form as they check-in to the dorms.

  2. Computers, laptops, televisions, radios, video games and expensive jewelry should not be brought to Soul Quest. Soul Quest is not responsible if these items are lost or stolen. As a precaution, if we see these items in your room, they will be taken and safely stored until the end of camp.

  3. All valuables should be kept in a safe place and locked in your room. As mentioned above, it is suggested that all expensive items be left at home. If brought, expensive items, large amounts of money, etc. should be locked in the room. Room keys are available to rent for $20 (money refunded when the key is returned).

  4. Cell phone use without permission is prohibited. Calling or texting other campers is a major no-no…you will lose it, if you use it.

  5. Appropriate clothing is required at all times. Skin-tight clothes, low-cut tops, shorts that are not past mid-thigh, cut-off shirts and baggy shorts are unacceptable. You will be asked to change.

  6. Always treat others with respect. This means campers, staff, sponsors, and YC employees. Pranks of any kind are not permitted. Speak with kindness and be considerate of those around you.

  7. Remain on campus. Leaving the YC campus is not permitted. Campers who have their own car will be expected to keep it parked during the week.

  8. Possession of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, fireworks, or weapons of any kind is strictly prohibited.
  9. Respect all curfews. Leaving the dorm after curfew is not permitted. Leaving after curfew puts campers’ safety at risk.

FAQ

What is classified as middle school and high school-aged?
High school students graduating in the years 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Middle school students graduating in the years 2025, 2026 and 2027.

How do I know if a child/teenager is ready for camp?
We suggest reviewing the camp guidelines with all campers before they arrive at Soul Quest to make sure they are emotionally mature enough for camp. This is especially important in our younger campers. They will have a better experience at camp if they are ready for Soul Quest, not just “old enough” for it.

A camper takes prescription medication, is there a camp nurse?
Yes, there is a camp nurse and prescription medication MUST be checked-in to the nurse’s station upon arrival at camp. Medications will be dispersed per parent’s clear written instructions. Medication must be in original containers clearly labeled. Also, our volunteer nurse staff will administer minor first aid when necessary. In the event a student is ill for an extended period of time or needs further medical attention, parents will be notified by the camp nurse's office, a sponsor or your Youth Minister.

How are rooms arrangements assigned to campers?
Campers attending with a youth group will be assigned a rooming arrangement by their youth minister/sponsor. Campers attending without a group can request specific roommates or be randomly assigned.

How many beds are in a camper’s room?
There are three mattresses provided in each room. If a youth minister/sponsor assigns four to a room, please make arrangements for a camper to bring an air mattress or something similar.

I know someone who would make a great Soul Quest counselor, how can I help them get involved?
One of our great priorities is to assemble the best possible counseling staff for SQ.  If you have a mature and spiritually minded young adult that you can recommend to counsel, please have them fill out a Counselor Registration Form found on the Staff/Counselor page as soon as possible.  We will not be accepting any staff that does not have a personal recommendation from an adult sponsor that is attending SQ.

Middle School Day – Mar 6th, 2021

This year Winter Peak will be held at the Littleton Church of Christ. The cost of our one-day retreat is $40 per person.  Simply fill out the form and turn it in to your Youth Leader by Feb 24th.

Theme & Speaker

The theme for Winter Peak is “Emerge”! Like a bear coming out of hibernation, we are all starting to come out of a long time of isolation—socially, maybe physically, and most likely spiritually. At Winter Peak we’ll talk about what it will look like as we Emerge.

While Winter Peak will look different than past years, we will still have several of the things you look forward to each year:

·         Great Worship together

·         Challenging Breakout classes

·         Time with your Youth Group

·         Chances to get to know students from other YG’s

We hope you’ll join us all at Winter Peak 2021!
